How We Get to Work

Where we live makes a huge difference in our commuting choices - but not always in the ways you'd think.

When you think of your commute into the office, you may not think of using an animal to get there. But for some of TechnoServe’s staff members around the world (roughly 95% of whom are from the country where they work), traveling to work is an adventure in itself. Where we live makes a huge difference in our commuting choices — but not always in the ways you’d think.

Since 1976, TechnoServe has been helping smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs in Nicaragua access formal markets, improve crop and product quality, manage businesses, and boost their incomes.

This work wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated staff, who sometimes brave surprising obstacles to reach our clients in remote parts of the country. Here are a few snapshots of TechnoServe staff visiting clients as part of a larger effort to improve farmer incomes in Latin America through better coffee production.
