Through a seven-year program funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, TechnoServe has developed entrepreneurs by focusing on three objectives: support and strengthen today’s entrepreneurs and SMEs, plant the seeds for the entrepreneurs of tomorrow and build local sustainable capacity of financial institutions to support those entrepreneurs and SMEs.

TechnoServe is working with small- and medium-sized maize, rice and sunflower oil processors to increase the supply of, and demand for, nutritious and fortified foods.

TechnoServe helped farmers in marginalized areas of northern Ghana to earn more for their crops while ensuring a better food supply for the region.

TechnoServe was an implementing partner in the African Cashew Initiative, which worked to improve the volume and value of cashews produced and processed in Africa.

As part of the African Cashew Initiative, TechnoServe worked with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to improve profitability and competitiveness of the cashew value chain in Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin and Burkina Faso.

TechnoServe implemented a two-year initiative that targeted women in women’s business groups (WBGs) who were working in value addition or commercialization.

Beekeeping is one of the major livelihood activities in the departments of Colón and Ocotepeque, providing income and other benefits like food, nutrition and medicine.

Peanuts are a valuable cash crop for small farmers in Haiti, however despite ideal growing conditions, productivity and yields in the sector remain low.

The EMERGE program is a collaboration between Anglo American and TechnoServe that works to accelerate micro and small businesses in communities surrounding Anglo American operations in Chile.
