Description: 

In this project, TechnoServe will transfer learning from its entrepreneurship programs in southern
Mozambique to northern Mozambique, gaining a deeper understanding of the unique business environment and challenges of the north. This inception phase year will pilot and develop a longer term strategy for the next phase.

Project goal: 

The inception phase aims to refine understanding of the targeted areas, profile of beneficiaries, and
curriculum development. Additionally, it will map and engage the main ecosystem actors to identify interventions to address market system constraints, and foster a business environment supportive to women and youth-owned businesses. It will also pilot business managerial skills training in Nampula and Pemba.

Project achievements:

  • The project has increased the revenue by 87.4% supported by MSGBs;
  • $ 33905 of new investments has been generated;
  • 49% women graduated;
  • 97% of MSGBs applying improved business skills;
  • 74% of MSGB’s has improved the household management and business responsibilities;
  • 70% of MSGB’s reported to have increased the formal saving;
  • 308 MSGB entrepreneurs trained (176 in Nampula and 132 in Cabo Delgado);
