Welcome to TechnoServe Mozambique! Since our inception in Nampula in 1998, we have been dedicated to combating poverty across the nation. With a team of over 80 professionals spread across four offices in Maputo, Chimio, Nampula, and Pemba, we have a widespread presence enabling us to serve communities in every province of Mozambique.

TechnoServe’s new vision for ending poverty, building on our long track record of developing market-based solutions in agriculture and enterprise development, but now focusing on issues that are more and more prominent like climate change, fragility and unemployment. We aim to expand our work in three key areas: Regenerative Business for People, Nature, and Climate; Nutritious, Inclusive, and Sustainable Food Systems; and Decent Work for the Next Generations.

Our focus will prioritize these areas as we continue to scale up market-based solutions in high-margin agriculture, food processing, and enterprise development. Throughout our work, we will maximize impact by promoting women’s economic empowerment, inclusive technological solutions, and shared value approaches that incentivize sustainable, inclusive business models.

In essence, we are moving from partial answers to more powerful solutions; from climate-smart approaches to regenerative business; from soloed work focusing on individual businesses to local food system transformation; from a focus on topline growth to a focus on subsectors with the greatest potential for job creation and green business models. We want TechnoServe to be the preeminent provider of innovative, market based solutions, and be the best in class at working across sectors to solve the most difficult problems in economic development in ways that respect the planet.

Barbora brings 14 years of experience in catalyzing inclusive and sustainable private-sector investment in the agriculture sector. She was FAO’s agribusiness officer for Southern Africa, and has held positions across Latin America and Africa with development organizations such as ACDI/VOCA, CONCERN Worldwide, and Spanish Red Cross.

Christine has over 12 years of experience supporting market-based solutions to poverty through direct support to companies, impact investing, and strategic advising. She has worked across Africa with organizations such as Dalberg, UNDP, MicroVest, One Acre Fund, and IDH.

Augusto Jaime has a degree in agronomy from the Faculty of Agronomy and Forestry Engineering at Eduardo Mondlane University, and two master’s degrees, namely an MBA from the Technical University of Munich and Agribusiness Management from the Rome Business School. Augusto has more than 15 years’ experience in the agriculture and agribusiness sector, having worked in organizations such as Campania de Vanduzi SA, where he has held various positions, from Technical positions (irrigation, crop nutrition, integrated farm management and general agronomy), Acting Estate Manager of Catandica Farm, Production Manager and Corporate Affairs Director. Augusto is Certified Advisor on Integrated Farm Management and Fertilizer Management by BAISIS UK.

Affiliate in the Association of Charted and Certified Accountants (ACCA). Reginaldo has eight years of experience in management consulting, accounting, finance, projects evaluation, and M&E, and five years of experience in development with a focus on value chain development.

Muhamed Hanif has over three years of experience in international development and women’s economic empowerment. Muhamad is a dedicated and results-driven professional who has made a significant impact in promoting women’s entrepreneurship in Mozambique. He is currently the Program Manager for the Oholo project, a women’s entrepreneurship program implemented in the provinces of Nampula and Cabo Delgado.

Sarah has 15 years’ experience in international development and women’s empowerment (of which 13 years are in Mozambique). In addition to serving as WIN’s Program Director, she is also TechnoServe Mozambique’s gender lead, providing advisory services and training to programs and staff on gender responsive programming. She joined TechnoServe in 2018, initially as the Program Manager for Business Women Connect, a women’s entrepreneurship and financial inclusion program. She previously lived for several years in Pemba, Cabo Delgado, where she founded IKURU, an ethical fashion label employing and training women from vulnerable backgrounds; and worked as research consultant, M&E officer, and project coordinator in gender relations, sustainable livelihoods and migration. She holds a master’s degree in International Development from Lisbon University Institute and a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies from McGill University, Montreal.

Mr. Steen is an international development leader with over 30 years of experience, including 18 years as Chief of Party (CoP) of agricultural value chain and market systems development programs in Western, Eastern, and Southern Africa. Presently, Mr. Steen is the CoP of the $25.5 million USAID Feed the Future Mozambique Promoting Innovative and Resilient Agriculture Market Systems (PREMIER) activity in Mozambique. Previously, he managed agricultural transformation programs with a total value of over USD 100 million, benefitting over 100,000 direct beneficiaries. Mr. Steen was the initiator of the innovative ‘push-pull’ concept introduced in the USAID-funded Productive Safety Net Program Plus (PSNP+) program in Ethiopia. He also Initiated women entrepreneurship and leadership development activities, which supported over 300 women-led and -owned micro and small enterprises, resulting in an average increase in annual turnover of 200%. Mr Steen supervised the 100+ project personnel and 12 national and international sub-contractors.

Dionério is a seasoned accounting and finance professional with over 12 years of experience and a diverse background ranging from Government, Mining, Logistics, FMCG industry to the NGO sector. This experience includes Vale Moçambique, Corredor Logístico e Integrado de Nacala (CLN), ABInBev (Cervejas de Moçambique), Consórcio COSACA (Idai Cyclone Emergency Response) and Aldeias Infantis SOS Moçambique, in financial management and compliance implementation
