Managing Director, BlackRock

Debbie McCoy is a Managing Director at BlackRock, where she leads Impact Investing and ESG (Environment Social Governance) for the quantitative active equity investment group. The team’s approach derives investment insights from proprietary research using data science tools such as machine learning and natural language processing to assess unstructured information for use in portfolios. Prior to BlackRock, Debbie worked for Stanford University’s endowment, created and co-taught the Stanford MBA elective course, "Frontier Market Private Equity," and was a Director of the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies during its launch. She began her business career at Bain & Company in San Francisco and Johannesburg, followed by Citigroup, in New Delhi and New York. Debbie has conducted project work in Dubai, Thailand, and Vietnam. Additionally, Debbie served as a non-partisan, Presidentially-appointed White House Fellow at the U.S. Department of State.

Debbie is on the Advisory Council of Medic Mobile, and was on the Board of Trustees of the African Leadership Network from its inception until 2016.

Debbie received a Bachelor of Arts from Howard University, where she studied Spanish, Chemistry, and Biology, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is originally from San Jose, California.
