Our monthly photo series highlights the beauty and emotion in the lives of our clients around the world. This month, check out three photos spanning decades of our work illustrating the proven business solutions we have delivered for more than five decades.

Since 1968, TechnoServe has connected entrepreneurs and farmers across the globe with the skills, knowledge, and connections to build businesses that last. Our founder, Ed Bullard, believed that all women and men possess an enterprising spirit, capable of building a sustainable livelihood for themselves with the right tools. For more than 50 years, we have remained faithful to Mr. Bullard’s unique vision of delivering business solutions to poverty. Though the last half century has brought changes to technology, business, economies, and international development as a whole, our approach has remained the same. We are proud to see the measurable progress that our consistent efforts have achieved.

For this photo of the month, we are opening the vault to share three pictures spanning the history of our work. We hope you enjoy stepping back in time to see how TechnoServe has remained dedicated to our mission through the years and how we continue to uplift enterprising women and men.

The Santa Rosa chicken coop. (TechnoServe)

In 1969, TechnoServe undertook its first project: the Santa Rosa chicken coop. TechnoServe helped the Santa Rosa family construct a 2,000-square-foot feed mill producing poultry and eggs in Honduras

Since 1969, TechnoServe has helped many other farmers expand their poultry production around the world. Check out this modern-day success story of how one entrepreneur in Botswana is hatching success with her poultry business.

El Castano tomato harvest in El Salvador. (TechnoServe)

In 1981, TechnoServe started the El Castano cooperative in El Salvador to help women in rural communities create ketchup and tomato paste. This was the first time these products were produced in El Salvador.

Years later, women in El Salvador continue to maintain their innovative spirit, producing products that are the first of their kind. Meet Lorena Gonzalez, whose taxi service for women created change for women entrepreneurs in El Salvador.

Farmapine farmers carrying pineapples in a field. (TechnoServe)

In 1999, TechnoServe, in partnership with the World Bank, established Farmapine Industries, a cooperative-based pineapple export operation. This initiative led a group of smallholder farmers to become the second-largest pineapple exporters in Ghana.

TechnoServe continues to help farmers access new markets by selling directly into formal supply chains. Discover how a TechnoServe program in Mexico helped farmers sell their fruits and vegetables directly to major buyers.
