TechnoServe Appoints Smitha Allapat as Chief Financial Officer
In her new role, she will oversee TechnoServe’s global financial strategy and operations, strengthening the organization’s ability to scale impact with transparency and resilience.
ARLINGTON, VA. (August 4, 2025) — TechnoServe, a global nonprofit that helps people lift themselves out of poverty by harnessing the power of business and markets, announced the appointment of Smitha Allapat to the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Allapat brings more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit financial management, strategy, and operations, with a deep commitment to mission-driven work. She has served as TechnoServe’s Senior Director of Finance and Global Controller since 2019, leading critical initiatives such as the re-implementation of the global financial system, enhanced audit preparedness, and financial restructuring. Her leadership has significantly strengthened TechnoServe’s financial stewardship and operational effectiveness.

Prior to joining TechnoServe, Allapat held senior finance roles at the African Wildlife Foundation, where she built robust systems for compliance, risk oversight, and long-term sustainability. She holds a Master’s degree in Finance, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
