Report: TechnoServe Supported Higher Incomes for 1.2 Million People amid Unprecedented Global Aid Shifts in 2025
The nonprofit’s 2025 annual report also highlights that a record 44% of the beneficiaries were women
ARLINGTON, VA (April 8, 2026) – International nonprofit TechnoServe today released its 2025 annual report, Rooted and Rising, detailing the organization’s impact on the lives and livelihoods of farmers, entrepreneurs, and communities across Africa, Latin America, and South Asia.
In a year marked by dramatic cuts in global spending on international development, TechnoServe programs created real and lasting change:
- 1.2 million people and businesses increased their income
- $489 million in additional revenue reached these beneficiaries
- $5.70 of additional revenue reached beneficiaries for every dollar invested in TechnoServe programs
- 279,000 tons of CO2e of greenhouse gas–equivalent to the annual emissions of 65,000 gas-powered cars–were kept from the atmosphere
- 102,000 jobs were strengthened or created in communities where they are needed
“The people we serve remind us that times of difficulty can also be times of growth and opportunity,” wrote TechnoServe President and CEO Will Warshauer and Board Co-Chairs Michael Bush and Rachel Hines. “Despite last year’s obstacles, TechnoServe itself and our clients around the world proved to be resilient. And we are so proud to have continued to help our clients achieve long-lasting change for themselves, their families, and communities.”
The annual report also highlights two significant milestones in TechnoServe’s history:
- In 2025, a record 44% of TechnoServe’s beneficiaries were women or women-owned businesses
- In October 2025, TechnoServe announced that it had provided training to one million coffee farmers since 2009
“I feel happy and motivated because, through the adoption of best practices, my coffee production has increased both in volume and quality, and the price has also risen,” said Biruta Jean Bosco, a coffee farmer and father of five in Rwanda. After participating in TechnoServe’s Coffee Farm College, he tripled his coffee harvest over a decade.
The annual report also spotlights how innovation has helped TechnoServe and its clients navigate the current landscape. Ana Emilia Figueroa Hernández, a young entrepreneur in El Salvador, enrolled in a new TechnoServe program that provides fully online business training. “I almost gave up and moved abroad, but I decided to give [my business] one more chance,” she said. “Now, I see it growing.”
“We are rooted in local communities, in world-class expertise and analytical skill, and in our commitment to enduring impact,” wrote Warshauer, Bush, and Hines. “At the same time, we are rising: adapting our model, strengthening partnerships, and pursuing new ways to help people build lasting incomes through business solutions.”
