Mexico
Mexico is a country of great wealth on the one hand and deep poverty on the other. Despite the large presence of international corporations and high-level research centers, there is a large and persistent economic gap, particularly evident in rural areas and in the agriculture sector.
Information on markets and product needs remains a challenge for governments and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and organizations on the ground are struggling to truly connect communities with market opportunities. Most farm properties in the country belong to small producers with very small plots of land, who have limited or no access to technology, financing, technical assistance or commercial channels.
TechnoServe’s innovative work in Mexico closes these gaps by linking small farmers and entrepreneurs to technology, know-how, and new value chains, allowing producers and business owners to improve the quality of life of their families and communities.
