AfriBiz

TechnoServe is excited to invite your support to empower Africa’s future makers.

This innovative program will focus on nurturing entrepreneurship and economic growth for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through digital hubs in Nairobi, Luanda, Cairo, Casablanca, Abuja, Lagos, and Johannesburg.

These hubs will provide specialized training tailored to support youth and women, while remaining accessible to all entrepreneurs. Within two years, Afribiz will engage 200,000 entrepreneurs through online communities with the goal of creating and strengthening over 4,000 jobs. The project emphasizes peer learning and economic empowerment.

These hubs will be accessible to all entrepreneurs with a focus on supporting youth and women. We will provide specialized training for 6,000 participants that are tailored to their needs.

While initial efforts are highly focused on setting up the digital hubs in six countries, AfriBiz is designed for high replicability and scalability across the continent. Long-term sustainability is expected through funding partners and local institutions.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better future.

This simple idea has been at the heart of TechnoServe’s work around the world for over 50 years. Poverty limits potential. Opportunity leads to prosperity—for individuals, families, and communities. We know that a sustainable business approach is the most effective path to creating opportunity that lasts.

We have projects in around 35 countries, including 16 in Africa. We emphasize rigorous measurement and learning across our projects to ensure lasting impact. Our strategic priorities include job creation and youth empowerment, leveraging expertise in entrepreneurship, gender practices, and technical innovations.

Key initiatives include:

  1. Digitization of services: Over 300 e-learning courses since 2019, with programs like BeniBiz in Benin achieving high retention and sales growth.
  2. Digishara: An online training model that began in Kenya is now in Latin America. The Facebook community of 70K members demonstrates high satisfaction and results.
  3. Tech4Dev: Collaboration to promote technology for inclusive development, including the MonCoach app for simplified financial management.
