Erica Hovani

General Counsel

As General Counsel of TechnoServe, Erica Hovani leads TechnoServe’s legal and compliance function worldwide.  She works with TechnoServe’s senior management and with local counsel in the jurisdictions where TechnoServe operates to mitigate organizational risks and support staff so that TechnoServe can maximize its impact.

Prior to joining TechnoServe, Erica worked for the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, where she served as acting General Counsel and previously Assistant General Counsel. Before USTDA, Erica was Legal Counsel of the African Risk Capacity (ARC), an international organization that works with African governments to better plan for and respond to natural disasters and climate change. She was part of the team that founded ARC, and has worked extensively with governments across Africa, designing ARC’s legal structures and organization.  Erica has also worked at the UN World Food Program in Rome, Italy, providing legal support to humanitarian assistance activities, and as a litigator at Dechert LLP.  Erica has a law degree from NYU School of Law, and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Virginia.
