TechnoServe’s work with people fighting poverty around the world is full of striking stories and images. Each month, we share a few of our favorite photos from the everyday beauty of our clients’ journeys towards better incomes and better futures. As we continue our work helping coffee farmers in Puerto Rico, this month we are highlighting photos related to their recovery from Hurricane Maria–as they now chart a difficult path forward in the wake of Hurricane Fiona.

Five years ago, Hurricane Maria made landfall on the American island of Puerto Rico, causing the deaths of over 3,000 people and billions of dollars in damage. And it destroyed 80% of the island’s coffee trees, devastating the livelihoods of hundreds of farmers.
