Advancing Women’s Leadership in Indian Cotton

TechnoServe, in partnership with Visa Inc. and GAP is implementing a year-long program in Khargone and Bharwani districts of Madhya Pradesh to demonstrate an economically feasible model for the cultivation of cotton. The goal of this program is to improve the livelihoods of rural families by advancing women’s leadership in cotton farming communities. The initiative will implement a value chain intervention working with women-led farmer producer organizations, ultimately improving financial inclusion and access to finance for these women farmers. By providing training on leadership and personal development and by leveraging a combination of GAP’s Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement program (P.A.C.E) – a leadership and advancement training program – the project will support women in India’s cotton growing communities to transition from laborers to leaders in the cotton/textile value chain.
