Debbie McCoy is a Managing Director and the Head of Sustainable Investing for BlackRock’s Systematic Active Equity team (SAE). The team derives investment insights through proprietary research and the use of tools such as data science, statistics, machine learning, and natural language processing to assess the utility of structured and unstructured information. Previously Debbie worked for Stanford University, where she conceived and co-taught the MBA finance course, “Frontier Market Private Equity,” and was a part of the endowment’s private equity team. Debbie began her career with Bain in San Francisco and Johannesburg; later, at Citigroup, in New York and New Delhi. She has conducted extensive project work in The United Arab Emirates, Thailand, and Vietnam. Debbie received a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Howard University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and MBA from Harvard Business School, where she was a Toigo Fellow. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and served as a Presidentially appointed, non-partisan White House Fellow.
