Helping Farmers Build Resilience to Climate Change

Smallholder farmers are among the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

Without resources to combat volatile weather patterns and crop diseases, farmers in the developing world face crop loss and diminishing yields. This not only affects access to nutritious and healthy food but also decreases their incomes, continuing the cycle of poverty. Together, we can build economic and environmental endeavors around the world that are sustainably beneficial to the people and the environment they inhabit.

Sustainable Agricultural Practices Create Sustainable Incomes

"Now I’ve started adopting sustainable farming techniques. I’m expecting to produce more this year and will hopefully be able to provide healthy food and other necessities for my family."

– Ganesh Mehra, India

TechnoServe helps farmers implement climate-smart practices to make them less vulnerable to changes in rainfall, temperature, and frequency or intensity of extreme weather events, resulting in higher incomes and better access to nutritious foods. Whether it’s training coffee farmers in Puerto Rico on climate-smart techniques to recover from the hurricanes or using technology like drones to help farmers in East Africa identify early warnings of crop diseases, we recognize that there is an intrinsic link between a healthy planet and the livelihoods of smallholder farmers.
