Tourism, already the world's largest industry, continues to grow rapidly. It is a major source of foreign exchange for many developing countries and offers good economic opportunities for the rural poor.
TechnoServe's work promotes the growth of national and regional tourism sectors that create a wide range of direct jobs (ranging from construction to hotel management and services) as well as indirect income opportunities (by increasing market demand for local goods and services, including food, clothing, handicrafts and transport). We are currently developing the tourism industries in Mozambique, South Africa and Swaziland.
