As TechnoServe’s Senior Advisor, Rick Walleigh counsels TechnoServe’s Senior Management Team on matters of strategy and improving operations. He has also led and continues to be active in major management initiatives such as the development and deployment of a global project management methodology and the selection and implementation of a global financial system.
Rick joined TechnoServe as a volunteer consultant in 2006 when he and his wife spent six months in the newly opened TechnoServe office in Swaziland. From Swaziland, Rick and his wife moved to the TechnoServe office in Kenya for a year. When they returned to the US, Rick joined TechnoServe’s Senior Management Team as the Senior Advisor with a heavy focus on improving operations as TechnoServe was growing rapidly. Prior to TechnoServe, Rick had a 30 year career in the high technology industry, spending about half of his career in management and executive roles in high tech companies and the remaining half as a management consultant at Ernst & Young, where he was a Partner for 12 years. As a management consultant, his focus was on improving the operations of fast growing high tech companies.
Rick holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and a B.A. in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Rick resides with his wife in Los Altos, California and has two grown children. His daughter who is a medical doctor has done volunteer work in Africa, and his son who is a lawyer spent several years providing legal services to the poor.
