Youth-Employability Program in Mumbai

Mumbai has one of the largest concentration of young people in Asia, a vast majority of which live in slums with limited employment and educational opportunities. About 18 percent of urban youth in the 15 to 25 year age group are part of the predominantly unorganized labour force, of which 45 percent are illiterate and un-skilled. TechnoServe India has initiated a Skills Training and Job Placement program in Mumbai to identify and bridge the gap between education and employment by training adolescents in the aforementioned age group in basic work-ethic skills.
