Supported by the Argidius Foundation, Impulsa Tu Empresa aims to help more than 800 small and growing businesses boost their growth. Through mentoring, business training and business plan competitions, the program aims to increase sales by $13 million and generate 750 new jobs in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Burkina Faso.
TechnoServe is partnering with The MasterCard Foundation to help rural young women and men in East Africa transition to economic independence. The Strengthening Rural Youth Development through Enterprise (STRYDE) program delivers a comprehensive package of services including skills training, business development and mentoring to young people ages 18 to 30 in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.
As diamond reserves in Botswana dwindle, the country's entrepreneurs are playing an increasingly leading role in creating new jobs and diversifying the economy. Tokafala, an enterprise development program, is helping entrepreneurs develop the business, financial management and marketing skills they need to build successful and sustainable businesses.
TechnoServe conducted Enrich Engage Enable, a business plan competition for social enterprises in five districts of northern Karnataka. From 79 contestants working in diverse industries, the program shortlisted 30 entrepreneurs, each of whom subsequently received 200 hours of business training and mentorship from established entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and industry leaders.
A nine-month pilot project funded by the Forward Foundation aims to provide 30 vulnerable young women ages 18 to 24 with the necessary skills and resources to start their own businesses or obtain paid employment. The project will link these young women to successful businesswomen identified from the Women Mean Business program.
Between 2008 and 2011, TechnoServe implemented the business plan competition program Idea Tu Empresa in the Santiago Metropolitan Region, Valparaiso and Concepción. Entrepreneurs with new business ideas and already existing businesses received customized consulting and workshops on topics ranging from negotiation to marketing strategies.
TechnoServe Chile led the Business Capacities and Competences Development Program in vulnerable communities of the Biobío Region between 2010 and 2011. Consultants provided business training and workshops to more than 50 participants to help them identify business opportunities.
Yes Youth Can! (YYC!) is a program that seeks to empower youth in Kenya to promote their own development and become responsible citizens for peace and prosperity. To achieve this goal, YYC! works to build the capacity of youth, youth groups and youth-serving organizations to engage with each other, with business markets, government and communities.
