Agricultural Revitalization in Post-Conflict Areas
Much of northern Uganda was scarred by two decades of attacks from the Lord’s Resistance Army. Civilians who had fled to camps for internally displaced persons have now returned to their farms to rebuild their livelihoods. TechnoServe is working in Lamwo District, bordering South Sudan, to address various post-conflict challenges. Under the Revitalizing Agricultural Incomes and New Markets (RAIN) program, led by Mercy Corps with funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, we are striving to stimulate the re-development of input and output markets for seven local staple crops – cassava, sesame, sorghum, beans, rice, groundnuts and maize.
