Council Conversations: From Shopkeeper to Shop Master

This online discussion will highlight one of TechnoServe's thriving projects, the Smart Duka Initiative. Since 2016, this initiative has been working to increase the profitability of nearly a thousand small "mom and pop" retail shops in Nairobi, known locally as dukas. Alice Waweru, TechnoServe's Entrepreneurship Portfolio Lead based in Kenya, will share how this powerful approach is helping to increase store profits by an average of 55%.

Fireside Chat at Harvard Club of New York

This event will feature a fireside chat with Esther Kamau, TechnoServe's Regional Deputy Director based in East Africa. Esther will be in town to share experiences from her 12-year tenure at TechnoServe working with women beneficiaries in projects in coffee, youth entrepreneurship, and food fortification.

Council Conversations: Can Drones Change Africa's Agricultural Future

This webinar will be hosted by David Galaty, TechnoServe's Regional Director of Research and Innovation. He will share learnings from TechnoServe's Innovation in Outcome Measurement pilot program with 270 farmers in Uganda that assessed the capacity of farmers to use drone-assisted mapping technologies to guide decision-making for their crops and predict future yields.
