Jackeline Mukandori, 41, tends about 1,000 trees on her coffee farm in Rwanda’s Nyanza district. Through TechnoServe’s agronomy training, Jackeline has learned how to apply fertilizer, prune her trees, manage pests and other critical skills for improving the quality and quantity of her coffee.

As a result, her yields have grown from 90 kilograms in 2010 to 295 kilograms in 2011. Her profits have nearly tripled. With the extra income, Jackeline has been able to open a bank account and begin saving some of her profits. She has bought a cow that is providing milk for her family. And Jackeline has purchased health insurance for herself and her seven children, which helped her get treatment for her son when he contracted malaria.

TechnoServe has helped create these types of improvements for tens of thousands of farmers across the region. Read more about our work with coffee farmers throughout East Africa.
