Juan Deras, a member of the Flor del Pino cooperative in Honduras, displays berries from a coffee tree. Juan and his fellow cooperative members own some of the best land for coffee production in Honduras. But for years, they lacked the technical knowledge to best utilize their plots. As a result, their coffee could only be sold through local buyers at low prices.

In 2007, TechnoServe began developing the farmers’ practices in the field and in the market. Our advisors helped improve the quality of their coffee and connect with buyers, allowing the farmers to sell their coffee at a better price. Their higher incomes have helped these families improve their nutrition, their homes, their health and their education.
