TechnoServe provides technical assistance to the factory as part of the African Cashew Initiative (ACi), a four-year project in Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso and Mozambique funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), along with a broad spectrum of private-sector companies. ACi aims to help 150,000 small-scale farmers generate an additional $15 million in income each year. TechnoServe is supporting cashew processing factories that are creating thousands of jobs – more than 60 percent of which are held by women.
