Entrepreneurs recognize the resources that are available to them. In the case of Josefina Klinger and Angelica Valencia, that resource was the beauty and biodiversity of their native Nuquí region on Colombia’s Pacific coast. In 2006, the women founded a partnership of small tourism providers called Mano Cambiada.

Recognizing that they needed more knowledge in the basics of business, the women entered TechnoServe’s Idea Tu Empresa business plan competition, a program that spans six South American countries. They won $9,500 in seed money and, more importantly, received hands-on consulting on how to formalize and expand their business.

Today, as TechnoServe joins people across the world in celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week, Mano Cambiada is thriving – and the entire Nuquí community is benefiting. Learn more about Josefina and Angelica’s success.
